{how to take the white background off a photo on photoshop}

I know how irritating the white background of a picture can be, when you're trying to put it on your layout! Those problems will no longer occur because I will show you how to take that annoying white background off your picture. Please note that this tutorial is for Photoshop.
Step One: First of all, open your picture in Photoshop. Make sure your picture has a plain white background or a plain pink background etc. like below or it won't work. Why it won't work will be explained later.

Step Two: Go to the little tool bar on the side of your photoshop page. On the second row of tools, you will see a little magic wand type icon. Click on that.

Step Three: Once you have click on the little magic wand, click the white area (or the plain background) of your picture. It will look like this.

You see the dotted lines going round your picture and the outside of the background? If you have those, the last thing you've got to do is hit the Delete button on your key board. Now you've got a picture with no white background, perfect!
What Happens When You Try Take The A Busy Background Away

As I said earlier,if you try to take away a busy background, it'll end a mess. What I mean by a busy background, is a background with lots of colours and patterns. Below is an example of what can happen.

After... not so pretty huh?
But why is it like this? The reason is because in the picture above, there is a mixture of different colours and shades, instead of just one plain colour. The computer gets muddled and doesn't know what colour to select.
